Hannah and Yseult met at an event about race in January 2019, and decided to continue the dialogue by bringing their friends together for monthly sessions on bridging the gaps between WOC and white women.

These living room sessions quickly outgrew Hannah’s living room, and inspired the award-winning Kinswomen Podcast.

Our Mission:

We aim to make the difficult conversations about race and racism easier, and to have them from a place of love, compassion, and understanding.

We want our platform to be a safe space to nurture growth and change. We aim to center the stories of our guests, bringing humanity and individuality to groups that are so often seen as monolithic.

Hannah’s Allyship Mission Statement:

“I vow to do the internal and external work of anti-racism and social justice daily. To uncover, undo, and be honest with myself and others about the realities of the conditioning of white supremacy, even when it feels uncomfortable or inconvenient. I promise to do at least 30 minutes of education and/or action every day on anti-racism. I promise to hold myself accountable. I promise to be brave and push my boundaries in using my voice. I acknowledge that I will mess up, feel confused, feel shame, but I will not let those emotions get in the way of doing this work, which I feel is work of the highest truth, service, and love.”

A note on this statement:

We encourage our white and non-Black POC students and listeners to write a mission statement for themselves and their allyship journey. This statement should be a guidepost for an individual’s anti-racism work. We believe it should be realistic and easy to find. Post it on your fridge, in your car, or on your phone background.
